Growth opportunities and motivation
MANU GOOSSENS (file manager + notarial accounting)
Team member in the spotlight:
How did you end up at VDN&P?
During a walk I happened to pass the VDN&P office in Liedekerke and the look of the office appealed to me. I forwarded my CV and application letter and after a good interview I was soon appointed as a file manager.
After a short training period, I was given the opportunity to learn how notarial accounting works. Together with a colleague, I go to notaries and process the accounting on the spot. An exciting challenge, I could get acquainted with a totally new form of accounting, at remote locations with nice client contacts.
Can you give us an example of a challenging project or situation you worked in and how you dealt with it?
I found the “ notarial accounting” very exciting in the beginning because I couldn't really assess what I was starting. But today I dare say that it suits me. Step by step I feel I am growing and developing personally and that gives my motivation a big boost.
What are the most important skills for your role?
Above all, a good dose of courage and an open attitude to new things. Believing in yourself and being convinced that you can learn a lot by doing and with the necessary guidance. Therefore we have weekly meetings with our segment manager, where we can discuss about all aspects of the job.
"My job at VDN&P doesn’t feel like work"
What makes your work experience at VDN&P unique and special?
At VDN&P you get a lot of opportunities and projects if you have an open mind. You definitely don't feel like a number: your personality and interests are taken into account and I appreciate that a lot. I love challenges and variety. The combination of working internally and at notaries (outside the office) makes the days fly by. There are plenty of growth opportunities that you can seize.
What aspects of the work culture at VDN&P do you appreciate the most?
I am still surprised each day by the pleasant way of working. Colleagues are always ready to support, listen and encourage you to ask questions and look for solutions together. With good coaching and guidance, starting in a new job is so much easier.
What are you really proud of?
I was allowed to attend an external training about the integration of new people. Many attendees at this training as well as the speakers were very positive about VDN&P and I was very proud to be part of this company.
Describe the corporate culture in three words?
Spontaneous, committed, opportunities for growth. In addition, the company offers valuable advice and feedback, with an attention to developing soft skills, which is important in the advisory role in which I want to continue to grow. Maybe it sounds cliché, but to me my job at VDN&P does not feel like work. I enjoy coming to work, I feel good.
